Apple and blackberry sweetheart crumble


This is the first crumble I’ve made with hand picked blackberries in the Blue Mountains. You don’t have to hand pick your own berries, but make sure it’s made with love!

2 cups whole-wheat flour

1 1/2 cups non-salted butter

1 cup brown sugar

6 apples – peeled, cored, and cut into wedges

1 1/2 cups blackberries

1 lemon


(I doubled those servings to feed our hungry lot)

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease your dish.

Mix flour, butter (should be to room temperature, not melted), sugar, lemon zest and a dash of cinnamon together in a bowl using your hands until mixture is crumbly.


Mix the apples with the lemon juice and layer them in the bottom of the dish, lay the blackberries over the apples.


Evenly distribute flour mixture over the fruit mixture.


Bake in the preheated oven until fruit is soft and topping is light brown, about 40 minutes.

You can also add homemade whipped-cream, which is what we did! DIG IT!
